1 DOLLAR 2005 COMMEMORATIVE BU FINE SILVER DOLLAR The birth of the Canadian Flag that we know today was inspired by the planning for the centennial celebrations of 1967. Numerous experts joined the parliamentary committee and after months of reviewing countless proposals, a new design was found. It incorporated red and white, Canada s national colours that had been proclaimed in 1921. And the maple leaf, recognized as a symbol of Canada since the early days of the fur trade, emerged as the most fitting emblem. On February 15, 1965 Canada s new flag was raised for the first time in an official ceremony on Parliament Hill. |

Golani Brigade Silver Medal Maximum Mintage: 1,500 The Golani Brigade is the best and oldest brigade in the Israel Defense Force. It was formed in 1948, when the State of Israel was established. Golani fighters have taken part in all the wars of Israel and in nearly all operations all over Israel, from the Golan Heights in the north to Eilat in the south. In the 1967 Six Day War, Golani troops fought in the Jordan/Syria sector, in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, they blocked the way to the Syrians on the Golan Heights and recaptured the Mt. Hermon outpost from them. In the current Intifada, Golani soldiers form a protective wall all over the country. The Golani Brigade is known for its friendly and family-like set up as well as for its fine fighting spirit and capabilities of coping with its military operations that demand perfect physical fitness. The Brigade’s emblems and colors bear witness of its profound connection with Israel – its earth-colored beret, the olive tree on its badge, green of the Galilee and yellow of the desert on its flag.
